My first cellphone-driven robot

Yuh. This is tough. I didn’t even understand what Arduino was a few months ago.  But hey "shut up and lemme go", there I went through people’s sarcastic remarks in every online forum or in real life where I asked naively about how to purchase chips, how to wire, how to program, how to control and how to make everything autonomous.

Sure, an IT guy is not just about soft and PCs…However geekily incredible, these days I would spit out two tech trends in my eyes in early 21st century: mobility (in which I am expert) and robotics. Robotics, I guess, is about how intelligent, how interesting and how much close people can reach them to actually benefit from. I am in love with robotics and every piece of hardware in the artificial intelligence. This is brand new to me and everything is exciting except soldering…囧

Here is my first hand-made robot after 2 month’s bumby discovery without knowing how much more intelligent and useful it can be…I am confident though微笑.

1. Talking Tom repeats my voice command with a funny voice, and sends data to voice recognition application (JAVA coded) on my Android phone, via python script.

2. The command, after being processed, will be transmitted via cellphone’s Bluetooth to the microcontroller’s bluetooth module. This is the blinking Bluetooth bee I bought from Seeedstudio, plugged on the Xbee shield who is stacked seamlessly on Arduino:

This mini breadboard is not easy to find as French electronic stores sell much bigger ones. Sorry for the messy wires…I’ll arrange them soon.

So here is how it rocks on the table (video http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjAyMjg2MTc2.html).

Two problems:

1. I use small hobby servos instead of stepper motors so the moving speed is sorta low.

2. The cellphone needs time to figure out what to do because this is my old Galaxy of Qualcomm MSM7200A 528 MHz叹气
